The default output file name for any new record layout file is
Layout.str, and can be saved in a directory of your choice. However, if you follow these conventions, the Data File Editor automatically applies the appropriate record layout file to a data file
when you open it for editing:
- Save the record layout file in the same directory as the data file
- Name it using the same file prefix as the data file
- Use the
.str file extension
