To open a data file

  1. From the Classic Data File Tools IDE, click File > Open.
  2. Use the Open dialog box to select and open a data file.
  3. If the data file does not have a file header, and it has no associated profile file, complete the fields on the Data File Editor dialog box; then click OK. See Opening a Data File for more information.
Note: Fixed- or variable-length indexed, and variable-length sequential or relative files contain file information headers.
