Extending existing applications involves the process of exposing your CICS applications to a range of non-CICS client types.
Enterprise Server provides the following extension facilities:
- Access to CICS programs from Web services and Enterprise JavaBeans running under Enterprise Server. For this you need no extra software.
- CICS Transaction Gateway. For this you need IBM CICS Transaction Gateway (CTG) or IBM Universal Client. A typical scenario
is where a graphical front-end runs on a PC, possibly in a Web browser, and uses a CICS application to access data resources
managed by Enterprise Server.
