To start the Record Layout Editor

To start the Record Layout Editor from your Enterprise Developer project:

1. In Eclipse, open the project that contains your COBOL program.
2. In the Project Explorer, expand the COBOL Programs folder to show the COBOL programs in the project.
3. Right-click the COBOL program that contains the Data Division on which you want to base your new record layout file; then select Create Record Layout File from the context menu.
   Note: In Application Explorer view, ensure that you have built your project before trying to start the record layout editor.

To start the Record Layout Editor in Classic Data File Tools:

1. In Classic Data File Tools, click File > New > Record Layout; then click OK.
2. Navigate to the folder that contains the .idy file created from your COBOL program.
3. Select the .idy file; then click Open.
